Houston Restaurant Scene Sizzles

Houston is a food lover’s paradise. With endless cuisines to choose from and new restaurants popping up on the daily, it’s safe to say this city is fair game to any chef who wants to make it big time. Of course with any new restaurant comes great risk; but two new faces of contemporary dining have little to be worried about because Houstonians are already anxious to grab a table.

Buzzed-over chef Randy Rucker is opening his restaurant called Bramble on Voss.  This venue with an intimate setting of 46 seats and eight spots at the bar promises a detailed menu that will change nightly. A drink program centered on craft cocktails and a vast wine menu pairs with gulf coastal dishes created from foraged ingredients taken straight from regional farms and ranches.

Shepard Ross’s new restaurant called The Del is opening just off Voss near the site of Bramble. The inspiration to fabricate the atmosphere of a trendy club came after Ross’s area partners told him the neighborhood is underserved. The Del will be the spot to indulge in an inventive cocktail, watch a football game, have date night, or take the family to lunch. It’s fancy, it’s casual, there’s flexibility on price, it’s whatever you want it to be.

Bramble and The Del are located near our Houston communities.  Click here to learn more!

Host a Cinco de Mayo Party at Home!

You can throw together a last minute fiesta like a pro, and still wow your guests. Bring the Cinco de Mayo celebration to your apartment home with music, food, and some festive décor! Don’t worry about the menu- think simple options like tacos, guacamole, salsa, tamales, etc. If you are expecting a crowd, create a food station where people can easily move around to fill their plate.

Nothing says Cinco de Mayo like a freshly brewed margarita. If you’re a tequila enthusiast, pour different variations in shot glasses for friends to sample. (Hint: The best tequilas are made of 100% agave) Break out the blender and add fresh fruit to the mix! Serve drinks in glasses with the rim coated in sugar or salt, depending on the drink.

A party isn’t a party without an energizing playlist. This website has 55 song suggestions to liven the mood- and it doesn’t include two hours of Enrique Iglesias. Spruce up the inside of your home with a piñata, colorful streamers, sombreros, confetti, chili pepper string lights, and you’ll forget that you’re not actually in Mexico!

One last thing- send out the invites now! The one thing you need to have a good time is a group of good friends.
